NEPAN is a membership-based organization, it has provisions for individual and institutional membership. Interested individuals and institutions need to fulfil following eligibility criteria.

Membership Categories and Eligibility

NEPAN has provision for following types of membership:

Individual Members:

Individuals working in Nepal, who believe in participatory development, are engaged in practicing the objectives, principles and values similar to NEPAN and who agree to work to achieve the objectives of NEPAN, can become members of NEPAN. In addition, the individuals applying for membership must be directly involved in the management or facilitation of participatory development processes. Such members have voting rights in the General Council meeting. The General Council of NEPAN has the authority to admit members according to these rules and regulations and on the basis of proposal of the Executive Committee. Each application for membership must be endorsed by at least 2 existing individual members. The entry fee for this type of member is Rs. 300 and renewal fee is Rs. 600 for one year.

Eligibility Criteria
•    Should have knowledge on Participatory approach
•    Nepali Citizenship
•    Should have at least a training on participatory approach
•    Should accept constitution of NEPAN and will act as per the objectives of NEPAN
•    Should have exposer on development activities

Life Member:

Regular individual members may also apply in life membership if he/she fullfill the following criteria. A one time fee of NRS. 3000/- is payable for life membership. The GC will award the life membership based on the recommendation of the EC.

Eligibility Criteria
•    Should have five years individual membership of NEPAN
•    Should have attended 3 GCM
•    Should have contributed at any mode of members contribution at NEPAN

Institutional Associate Members:

Organizations including associations and networks of organizations, which believe in participatory development, are engaged in practicing the objectives, principles and values of NEPAN and which agree to work for achieving the objectives of NEPAN, can become members of NEPAN after being admitted as such; In addition, the organisations applying for membership must be directly involved in the management or facilitation of participatory development process. Organisations involved in controversy or convicted by court shall not be eligible for membership. Institutional Associate Members have no vote in the general Council. The general council of NEPAN has the authority to admit members according to these rules and regulations and on the basic of proposal of the executive committee. Each application for membership must be endorsed by at least 2 existing institutional associate members. Institution members have to pay as follows.

Honorary Members:

Individuals of stature and reputation for his/her contribution in participatory methods, who agrees to work to achieve the objectives of NEPAN, upon invitation from the Executive Committee. Honorary members have no vote in the general council meeting. The general council on recommendation of the Executive Committee has the authority to extend the invitation of honorary membership.

Cessation of Membership

The general council may ask any member to resign from membership if the Executive Committee decides that the member has deliberately violated the principles of NEPAN and is not taking a sustained interest in NEPAN's affairs or is working against NEPAN. The Executive Committee will give sufficient notice of intention so that the concerned member has adequate opportunity to clarify the concern.

Any member may decide to leave the network and submit resignation to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will be able to take final decisions.

Members leaving NEPAN will be asked to pay all outstanding payments.

Duties, Rights, and Privileges of Members

Following are the duties, rights, and privileges of members:
i.  To work actively to fulfil the objectives of NEPAN and to make its programmes effective.
ii. To attend all General Council Meetings of NEPAN.
iii.To contest elections for the Executive Committee (only for individual core members).
iv. To cast votes in the election and decision making in the General Council Meeting (Honorary members, Institutional Associate members exempted from the exercise).
v.  To receive full minutes of the General Council Meetings and summary minutes of the Executive Committee meetings.
vi. To encourage organizations and individuals to apply for NEPAN membership.
vii.To receive, free of cost, which will have been already covered by the membership subscription, all regular publications of NEPAN.
viii. To receive first exposure and service priority for trainings, workshops or any other NEPAN program.
